Salaries for the class of 2019 spiked from that paid to their class of 2018 counterparts, according to salary survey data released by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.

NACE’s Summer 2020 Salary Survey report found that the final overall average starting salary for the class of 2019 graduates is $53,889, up 5.8% over the final average starting salary of $50,944 for the class of 2018.

Computer and information sciences majors were the highest paid with an overall average starting salary of $76,986, an increase of 7.8% from the average paid to these graduates from the class of 2018.

The overall average starting salary for last year’s engineering graduates also exceeded $70,000, up 5.4% from 2018 grads to $70,219.

Mathematics and statistics majors saw the largest increase, 8.5%, reaching an overall average starting salary of $66,942.

Data for the report represents salaries paid to college graduates from the class of 2019 — a class not affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Data was gathered from the graduates through Dec. 31, 2019, and reported to NACE through June 30, 2020.
