Today marks the start of National Staffing Employee Week. The week is promoted by the American Staffing Association and aims to enable staffing firms to celebrate the contributions of the millions of contingent workers employed through them.

“Staffing companies have played an integral part in economic recovery over the years, and they are often one of the first positive indicators on the economy’s way back up,” Bill Stoller, CEO of Express Employment Professionals, said in a statement. “This year, we are particularly pleased to celebrate all of our employees who were deemed essential during the Covid-19 pandemic for their hard work and commitment to safe workplaces.”

The American Staffing Association announced that nurse Linda Cardenas is the 2021 National Staffing Employee of the year as part of kicking the week off. Cardenas works through Assured Healthcare Staffing and has worked at locations where multiple cases of Covid-19 were present. The ASA also announced four segment “all-star” workers: Melissa Jiminez in the engineering, IT and scientific sector; Darius Bowles in the industrial sector; Laura Line in the office/clerical and administrative sector; and Natalie Zousel in the professional/managerial sector.
