It is very tempting to delay your job search efforts until after the Holidays or first of the year. In fact, most job seekers either consciously or unconsciously make that decision. That is one of the reasons, why it is critical that you escalate your efforts right now. Other reasons include the following:

  • Hiring Authorities have hiring budgets they need to spend by the end of the year
  • If Hiring Authorities do not spend their hiring budgets, they are reduced the following year
  • You have less competition – after the first of the year one of the top New Year’s Resolutions is to find a new job
  • Job satisfaction is at historic lows which guarantees movement in the job market through the end of the year

Make a commitment to increase your daily activities and accept all opportunities to attend any and all events. When you’re asked what you’re doing, you respond “I’m a free agent in the open job market and it’s certainly been a learning experience.” That will encourage individuals to ask you about your experience and will increase your networking opportunities.

Rather than getting upset or frustrated about the extra expenses and pressures of the Holidays, give yourself the gift of a new job!
